the family soap box

Jason and I have been clearing through what will one day be our painting studio, but for the moment resembles a decrepit school building from Little House on The Prairie (if you've seen it).  It's a grand old structure built in 1903, and presently used as much-needed-storage.  One of the things I rescued from the overcrowding was this old box my grandfather made.  He would keep nails, bolts, washers and screws in it.  When he passed away, it was one of the few treasures I took home with me.  I always thought it was special.  It's now found a place in our home as the family soap box.  And it still looks exactly as it did when he passed away.  I'm glad he did not paint it brown.
